Newborn/Baby Photography

Expect 1 to 3 hours in studio
Having raised three children, I know very well how important it is to capture special moments with babies before they’re gone. My experience raising my children has taught me patience and peace, two qualities that my clients have said make for a smooth and memorable photography experience. My precious, tiny clients have peed, vomited, and cried in my arms, but I would never give that up for the end result of a special photograph of your little peanut.
Some helpful tips for planning your newborn/baby photos:
- Plan your session early. Babies are not always on time. Book a date shortly after your due date, and if baby arrives early or late, we will work with you to reschedule.
- Best results for newborn photography are within the baby’s first two weeks.
- Think about your newborn’s schedule and attempt to schedule your photography session around your newborn’s nap and feeding routine. You are welcome to feed and breastfeed in our private studio. If possible, feed your infant prior to leaving home. This will allow their little tummies to settle and reduce spitting up and fussiness.
- A fussy newborn can be challenging at any time. To comfort your newborn, include a favourite blanket, pacifier, wipes, and anything necessary for feeding in your diaper bag. Bring a spare outfit.
- Let us know ahead of time if your partner and baby’s siblings will be included in the Newborn/Baby Photo Session to reflect your beautiful, growing family.
- If you are including family members, colour coordinate your clothing. Avoid stripes, logos, big floral prints, multicolour tops or pants. Solid colours work best. Tans, browns, navy, whites or blacks work well. Avoid T-shirts.
- Your baby’s milestone photos are important. Schedule them ahead of time. Most common dates are three-months, six-months, nine-months and first birthday photos, including a cake smash.
- We can create your baby announcements. Be sure to have your baby’s weight, length, and any other details handy.
- Newborns look adorable with little or no clothing. Unique wraps, baby clothing, and accessories are available at no extra cost.
